Year 10 Pupil from GNSA runner up at the 2016-17 “Speak Out” Challenge!

Bharatbir Thind of Guru Nanak Sikh Academy was runner up at the 2016-17 “Speak Out” Challenge! Hillingdon Regional Final with a speech entitled ‘My Guitar Gently Weeps’

The Speakout Challenge is a competition brought into schools to encourage confidence and skill in public speaking.  A lot of students are so immersed in technology, or nerves, that they struggle with verbal communication.   Year 10 students, selected by the English department to hone or develop their verbal skills, attend a one day workshop that is held in school.  Then the students compete with a short speech and we select in school finalists.  The finalists develop their speeches and then, from a performance in front of the rest of Year 10, we select the school representative who in turn goes to the borough championship.
